Name of man killed at I-8 construction site released

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the construction worker who was killed Thursday at a construction site near Dateland after being run over by a road-grading machine.

The victim has been identified as Anthony Mosher, 29, of Queen Creek.

According to YCSO, at 10:45 a.m., it received a call about an industrial accident near Palomas Road and approximately Avenue 64E.

Upon their arrival, deputies discovered a worker had sustained fatal injuries after having been struck by a Caterpillar road grader. The victim was conducting survey-related work in preparation for the construction of a solar power plant.

Units from YCSO and a basic life support unit from Tri-Valley Ambulance arrived on scene first, along with units from the Tacna Fire Department. The site is located about 65 miles east of Yuma near Dateland and Hyder.

Tri-Valley Ambulance also responded with a paramedic unit from Wellton.

According to the sheriff's office, workers on scene had started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Paramedics from Tri-Valley took over when they arrived on scene and used an automated external defibrillator on the patient, who was unresponsive and not breathing on his own.

Efforts to resuscitate the victim failed, and he was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
