The man suspected in a Foothills resident's murder is awaiting extradition to Yuma County after turning himself in over the weekend.

Thomas Jacob Fisher II, 46, turned himself in Saturday afternoon to a Border Patrol agent in the Imperial Sand Dunes, and the agent turned him over to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office.

He was being held Monday in the Imperial County jail while awaiting extradition to Yuma on suspicion of first-degree murder, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office said.

Fisher is suspected of the murder of his stepfather, Carl Ray Brown, 64, who was found dead Dec. 21 in the garage of his home in the 1500 block of South Dawn Drive. An autopsy disclosed Brown had died of of massive head and chest injuries, YCSO said.

Fisher, who had been living with Brown and Brown's wife, was implicated in the killing by evidence found at the scene, YCSO said.
