AWC to offer hundreds of non-credit online courses
Arizona Western College will now offer hundreds of noncredit online courses through their recent partnership with Education To Go (ed2go).
These six-week classes allow for students to get skills that they need now, without having to work toward a degree.
“They can take these classes on their own time and in their bed if they want to, since it’s online,” said Carmen Madero, contract training specialist at the Business and Workforce Development Entrepreneurial Center.
Students do not need to be currently enrolled at AWC to take the courses and each online class is $95.
Madero explained that the classes provide training at times that are convenient for students.
At the end of each course, students will receive a certificate of completion for their work.
She added that some employers may even consider using the courses for staff development.
“These classes are targeted for people that need skills now,” she said.
Madero commented that there are also personal enrichment courses available for interested individuals.
Students can study at their own pace and interact with students online and an instructor facilitates the course. Courses can be accessed 24/7 from wherever students can connect to the Internet.
New sessions are offered monthly and each class consists of 12 lessons total. Each course also has quizzes, assignments and a discussion area.
Courses offered include: Creating Web Pages, Accounting Fundamentals, Speed Spanish, Grant Writing, Medical Terminology, Real Estate Investing, Photoshop Elements 8 for the Digital Photographer, Beginner’s Guide to Getting Published, Certificate in Spirituality, Health, and Healing, Goodbye to Shy, Homeschool With Success and Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010.
