Man who fled from deputies found hiding in locked bathroom
A man who fled from deputies after they attempted a traffic stop on his vehicle was later found in a locked bathroom.
According to Capt. Eben Bratcher, a spokesman for the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, units from the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force tried to make a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 32-year-old Charles Bay.
“It was an investigative stop on a traffic violation,” Bratcher said.
Bratcher said Bay, however, refused to stop and fled the area. His vehicle was found a short time later abandoned in the 1500 block of 6th Avenue.
Deputies eventually tracked Bay to a nearby residence. Bratcher said when deputies spoke with the homeowner, they were told that Bay had entered the residence and threatened them to be quiet and not to answer the door.
Bratcher said deputies entered the home and found Bay hiding in a locked bathroom. He was taken into custody and booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Facility on charges of criminal trespass and threats and intimidation. Further charges reportedly are pending.
