YUHSD considers online courses
Online courses could be an option soon through the Mesa Distance Learning Program (MDLP) for Yuma Union High School District students.
During a special meeting Wednesday, the YUHSD board will consider approving an intergovernmental agreement with MDLP.
Recently approved by the Arizona Department of Education to become an Arizona Online Instruction provider, the district is looking to contract services through MDLP.
Superintendent Toni Badone explained that if the agreement is approved Wednesday, the district plans to start the online classes option by the middle of the upcoming fall semester.
She noted that this will be a great way to regain students who have dropped out or stopped attending campuses. “We're really looking to recapture students to make it easier for them to get their high school diplomas from our district.”
Additionally, the governing board will elect a vice president to serve the group.
The special board meeting will be held in the district's governing board room located at 3150 S. Avenue A at 5:15 p.m.
