Comments 0 | Recommend 0 • Town of Wellton — Before you move a manufactured home from one parcel or lot to another, contact the town for the latest information. The laws have changed and it is important that you get the right permits and understand the new laws before you make a move.
The pool is closed until Water Dog Day scheduled for May 27.
Next alley cleanup will be first week of May. Contact the town at 785-3348 to be put on the list.
• Wellton museum — The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday.
• American Legion Post No. 67 — Pool tournaments are held every Tuesday.
• Animal Guardian Angels — The Thrift Shoppe is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at 28809 San Jose Ave. (across from the Baptist church). For more information, call 785-4819.
• Wellton Senior Nutrition — Hot meals are served from 11 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays at the Community Center on Dome Street. For more information, call 785-4585.
• Desert Herdsmen 4-H Club — The club is re-forming and needs new leaders. If you would like to be involved as a leader, call Donna at 261-7592 or Janet at 785-4123.
• VFW Post No. 6790 — Sundays through Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. is happy hour. Breakfasts are served at 9 a.m. Saturdays, all-you-can-eat pancakes for a donation of $3 per person or ham and eggs for a $5 donation. Hamburgers/cheeseburgers and fries with all the trimmings will be served Mondays from 4 to 7 p.m. Burgers are $4/$4.50 donation.
There is a pool tournament, double elimination, at 1 p.m. Wednesdays. The entry fee is $5. All events are open to the public. For additional information, call 785-4225. All proceeds go to the programs supported by the VFW, 29389 Oakland Ave. in Wellton.
• Kiwanis birthday calendar — Work on the 2008-09 birthday calendar has begun. If you would like to have your name included, contact a Kiwanis member or mail your list of birth and anniversary dates to Kiwanis at P.O. Box 441, Wellton, AZ 85356 or call 785-9809.
Each calendar is $5. Profit from sales will help to fund community projects, including scholarships, glasses for needy students and the park in Tacna. The calendars will be available in August.
• Dobson museum — The museum in Tacna is available for viewing by appointment only. Call Windy at 785-4013 to make an appointment.
• Habitat for Humanity — Collection sites to assist the public in recycling aluminum cans and the Nos. 1 and 2 plastic bottles in Wellton and east county. Each of the locations will have an "Envirogreen" Habitat collection house. The funds that are generated in Wellton will be applied to a future Habitat house. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information on what project we are involved in, call us at 783-3993.
Locations are Coyote Wash Road, Pete's Body Shop, Animal Guardian Angel Thrift Store, Mota's Market, Sun Country RV Park, Coach Stop RV Park, Wellton Community Presbyterian Church, Tier Drop RV Park, Ligurta Station, Circle K Store, Wellton School, Del Sol Grocery and Citrus City Community Center.
• Wellton library — The library is closed at its present location. The book drop will remain in the front of the Williams Street location until May 14. The new library will open May 13 at the new location at 28790 San Jose Ave. The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 17. The due date for all materials checked out from the Wellton branch library is being extended to May 14. Call the library at 785-9575 for more information.
• Foothills branch library — Story time is 10 a.m. Wednesday for children ages 2 to 5 at Copper Hills House, 11234 E. North Frontage Road. This week's theme is "Hang in There." For more information, call 342-1640.
A new book, "The Perfect Life" by Robin Lee Hatcher, is now available.

• Dateland branch library — This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Dateland school. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, except that it is closed the last Thursday of every month.

• Roll branch library — This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Mohawk Valley school. All library programs are free. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.
Story time is from 10 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday for children ages 18 month to 5 years. For more information, call Lucy Shaw at 785-3701 on days when the library is open.
• Dateland Elementary School — Dental screenings will be held Tuesday.
• Mohawk Valley Elementary School — The induction ceremony will be held for National Junior Honor Society at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Stanford 9 testing will be held May 6-8.
• Wellton Elementary School — Picture day for kindergarten and eighth-grade graduation and sports groups is today. There will be soccer games away at Mohawk Valley School at 2 p.m. Friday. Also on Friday, progress reports will be sent home.
• Antelope Union High School — The academic banquet will be held in the cafeteria at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Fine arts night will be held in the old gym at 6 p.m. Thursday.
