Libraries' fee raise to take effect June 4
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 Patrons of Yuma County's libraries will be able to make photocopies in color, although they'll pay a little more than they do for the black and white versions.
Color copying fees were among several new or revised library fee amounts approved this week by the Yuma County Board of Supervisors.
The revised fee schedule takes effect June 4 at the county library district's branches in Yuma, the Foothills, Somerton, San Luis, Ariz., Roll and Dateland.
The fees were adjusted to meet the actual cost of library services, said Sarah Wisdom, community relations manager for the district. The schedule include new charges for color copying, a new service offered by the library district.
The cost of a color copy made on 8-1/2-by-11-inch paper will be 25 cents per page, while the cost of a black-and-white copy on the same-size paper stays at 10 cents.
A black and white copy on 8-1/2-by-14 paper increases from 10 to 15 cents a page. Forty cents is the newly established charge for a color copy on 8-1/2-by-14 paper.
A black and white copy on 11-by-17 paper stays at 20 cents, and 50 cents will be charged per page for 11-by-17 color copies.
Most other fees or fines charged by the libraries remain the same, however.
A library card remains free to county residents.
The charges for library cards for non-county residents remain $5 for a one-month card, $15 for six months or $25 for a year.
The cost to replace a library card remains $2.
The fine for an overdue book remains 20 cents a day for every day the book is kept after the due date, up to $6 per book.
For use of the libraries' fax machines, patrons will be charged up to $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page for faxes sent within the United States. For faxes sent internationally, the charge will be up to $3 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.
