AWC closed Sunday for electrical upgrade
Arizona Western College's main campus will be closed for electrical service Sunday, according to school officials.
The college will be without electricity or air conditioning beginning at 7 a.m. that day until 7 a.m. Monday, a school news release said. A new APS electrical substation will be connected to the college's electrical substation at that time.
AWC's e-mail, online classes, Web site, television and radio stations will not be in operation at this time.
The work is solely confined to AWC and will not impact surrounding residential areas, said Alison Howell, AWC communications coordinator. Power to campus dorms, which are empty this time of year, will also be interrupted.
School officials apologize for the inconvenience, but the closure is needed to connect electrical services to the new buildings on campus. All AWC staff is requested to turn off computers before leaving for the weekend, the release said.
