Attic of guest house damaged in fire
The attic of a guest house suffered major fire damage Friday evening, the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department reported.
Firefighters responded to a house fire at 166 Fulton St., according to a department news release.
The fire was reported at 11:30 p.m. Friday when a neighbor noticed smoke and fire blowing out of the second floor of the guest house, the release said.
Firefighters used a stairway to go up to the second floor and attacked the fire in time to keep it from extending to other rooms in the home, said Robby Rodriguez, department public information officer.
No one was inside the guest house at the time and the owner who was in the main home was not injured, according to the release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Rodriguez said.
