School fire under investigation

The cause of a fire at Gywneth Ham Elementary School Tuesday morning was under investigation by the Yuma Fire Department.

A classroom used for storage at the school at 840 E. 22nd St. was destroyed in the fire reported at 5:42 a.m., while a second, adjacent classroom building was damaged, the fire department said in a news release.

Those classrooms were separate from the school’s main building, but an additional classroom in the main building received minor damage, the fire department said.

There were no injuries.

Firefighters from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma assisted in fighting the fire.
