Yuma firefighters respond to apartment fire
An apartment fire in the 2000 block of South Maple Avenue in Yuma sent one unidentified woman to the hospital on Monday.
Fire inspector Kayla Holiman, of the Yuma Fire Department, said firefighters responded to a reported house on fire just after 3 p.m.
She said arriving firefighters found light smoke coming from the attic area of a single story tri-plex apartment complex and a neighbor spraying the building with a garden hose.
According to Holiman, the fire was fully extinguished and contained to the second and third units of the complex.
There was one occupant in the apartments at the time of the fire and she was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for unknown medical reasons, Holiman stated.
The apartment complex was located at 2015 S. Maple Avenue.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but Holiman said fire inspectors were on the scene.
