Fire destroys double-wide trailer

A Yuma residence was destroyed by fire Thursday morning. No injuries were reported.

According to Rural/Metro, a neighbor reported a double-wide trailer at 15700 53rd St. was on fire at about 4:40 a.m.

“We arrived on scene ... and quickly went to work putting it out,” said Charly McMurdie, Rural/Metro public information officer.

Despite the efforts of the firefighters, the building was a total loss. However, a small building and a detached garage nearby were spared.

APS and Southwest Gas also responded to the scene to secure the utilities.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
