Kofa High School will hold registration this month for students who will be freshmen at the school in the 2008-09 academic year.
Incoming freshmen whose last names begin with the letters A through L will register from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on April 22 at Kofa High, 3100 S. Avenue A.
Those whose last names begin with letters M through Z will register 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 24 at the school.
All incoming freshman can also register 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 29 at Kofa.
To register, students must bring birth certificates; proof of residency, such as a current utility bill or rental agreement; current immunization records; and cash to pay for class fees, student identification cards, physical education uniforms and other expenses.

Dinner to benefit San Luis High science department
A fundraising dinner to benefit the San Luis High School Science Department will take place Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the school campus, 1250 N. 8th Ave. in San Luis.
Proceeds will go toward the purchase of science equipment.
On the menu will be pulled pork with rice and beans. Homemade desserts and soda will also will be available.
Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased from any San Luis High School science teacher or students. Tickets also will be available at the door.

-Universal health care discussed
Universal health care and its implications will be the topic of Dr. Lee Hieb at Thursday's meeting of the Yuma Freedom Discussion Society.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Yuma Community Food Bank conference room, 2404 S. Engler Ave., with the Yuma physician's speech.
A discussion of Hieb's presentation will follow at 7:50 p.m.
The meeting is open to the public.
-Hospice needs summer volunteers
Hospice of Yuma is seeking summer volunteers to work in its thrift shop, 1808 S. 8th Ave.
Volunteers must be 16 and able to work at least four hours a week. They will be placed in work areas dependent on their interests and abilities.

-Assistance League has customer appreciation day
The Assistance League of Yuma will host a customer appreciation day at its thrift shop at 1054 S. 4th Ave. on April 30.
The event, which will include sales and giveaways, will be held to mark various league anniversaries in Yuma. This year is the league's 38th anniversary in Yuma and the 20th anniversary of its ALBY Bear program, which makes available teddy bears to console children in traumatic situations.
Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. All proceeds from thrift shop sales go to the Assistance League's community service programs.
-Beta Sigma Phi sets Founder's Day celebration
Beta Sigma Phi will celebrate its annual Founder's Day with a dinner April 29 at the Yuma Golf and Country Club, 3150 S. Fortuna Ave.
The event begins with cocktails at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $25. For reservations, call Susie, 246-8242.
