A convicted sex offender from California is now residing in Yuma.

Michael J. Grady, 28, lives at 450 S. 2nd Ave. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes, according to a news release from the Yuma Police Department.

In 1994, Grady entered into a plea agreement in San Diego County Superior Court for two counts of lewd acts upon a child.

A police investigation revealed that Grady had sexual contact with a 13 year old and 10-year-old girl.

Grady was sentenced to six years in prison and is considered a Level 2 sex offender with a medium risk to re-offend.

Fliers with this information are being distributed in Grady's new neighborhood.

According to Megan's Law, police are required to notify the surrounding neighborhood when Level 3 and Level 2 sex offenders are released. No community notification is required for Level 1 offenders. Grady is not wanted by Yuma police at this time.

More information on the state's sex offenders can be found at www.azsexoffender.com. Local information is available at www.ci.yuma.az.us/coypd/sex_offenders.htm.

According to the Yuma police's news release, the department's community policing unit may be reached at (928) 373-4668 and is available to help residents join or start a neighborhood watch program, as well as provide information about personal safety.
