Plane makes emergency landing on Highway 95
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A small airplane made an emergency landing on Highway 95 near Milepost 102 Thursday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
"A Piper Cherokee made an emergency landing on the northbound lane of Highway 95 near Quartzsite due to an oil leak," said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.
Gregor said there was one pilot aboard the small aircraft. The plane landed safely and no one was injured.
He said the plane probably made a landing on the highway because there was no other suitable place for it to touch down.
DPS spokesman Harold Sanders said in an e-mail to The Sun that there was no collision with any ground vehicles or any other fixed objects when it landed.
The aircraft was towed off the highway.
