Yuma man hit, killed near Winterhaven in hit-and-run
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A Yuma man was killed shortly after midnight Sunday, according to a California Highway Patrol news release, on Winterhaven Drive after being struck by a vehicle.
The victim, whose age was listed as 50, was walking west along Winterhaven Drive east of Picacho Road about 12:01 a.m. when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle, the release said. A witness to the hit-and-run was only able to describe the vehicle as a small car. No further details were available.
CHP said in the release that the suspect vehicle may have damage to the right-side mirror, front windshield, or passenger-side doors. The vehicle fled the scene westbound on Winterhaven Drive into the town, where the witness lost sight of it, the release said.
