Guardianship options are session's topic
The community is invited to a free session to learn more about what types of guardianship options are available for parents of students with disabilities.
The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Library Media Center at Cibola High School, 4100 W. 20th St. Child care and Spanish translation will be available.
Guest presenters from Raising Special Kids, Arizona's Parent Training and Information Center in Phoenix, will explain the types of guardianship, alternatives to guardianship and information about various resources available for parents and students. The meeting will be led by Teri Rademacher, parent information network specialist for the Arizona Department of Education.
“It is an opportunity for parents to learn about the process and the timelines involved,” according to the Yuma Union High School District. “This is a difficult decision for parents so this training will provide them an opportunity to get the information needed to make an informed decision.”
To register, call Raising Special Kids at 1-800-237-3007 or register online at www.raisingspecialkids.org. For more information about the event, call Lisa Domby at 502-5710.
