Man who may be armed flees from deputies
The Yuma County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man who allegedly fled from deputies attempting to stop the vehicle he was driving Wednesday afternoon.
Jose “Rascal” Jimenez, 30, is wanted for unlawful flight from law enforcement and for an unrelated outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall and about 225 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and is possibly armed with a handgun.
According to YCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 700 block of Vaughn Avenue at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in response to reports of a verbal argument between Jimenez and another man whose identity was not released to the public.
Before deputies arrived, Jimenez allegedly fled in his vehicle. Deputies later located Jimenez driving near Avenue B and 8th Street and attempted to pull him over. Jimenez allegedly ignored the deputies, failed to stop and drove to Camelot Apartments, 1334 S. Avenue B.
Once in the parking lot of the apartment complex, Jimenez allegedly abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies, with aid from the Yuma Police Department, set up a perimeter around the complex and conducted a search for Jimenez.
Jimenez was able to evade capture and had not been located as of press time Wednesday.
YCSO encourages anyone with any information about where Jimenez may be located to call them at 783-4427, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
