Arizona Senate debate set for Thursday

KAWC will be hosting an Arizona Senate candidate debate in partnership with local television station KECY and the Yuma Sun on Oct. 25 to speak to issues impacting the rural Arizona area.

The debate between Arizona Senate candidates Jeff Flake and Rich Carmona will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Arizona Western College in the North Wing of the 3C Building on AWC's main campus.

A live broadcast of the debate will air on KECY CW and the segment will be rebroadcasted again on KECY FOX at 9:30 p.m. after the evening newscast.

The debate will also air on KAWC AM and FM at 6 p.m.

KAWC News and Operations Director Lou Gum will serve as the moderator and candidates will be asked questions from a panel consisting of KAWC Morning Edition Host and reporter Michelle Faust, KECY News Director Anna Chaulk and Yuma Sun Reporter Joyce Lobeck.

Questions asked of the candidates will range from topics of land and water management to health care, immigration and job creation.

With a limit of 300 guests, 100 tickets will be distributed by the Yuma County Republican office, 1185 S. 4th Ave. Suite N, and the Democratic Party office, 2450 S 4th Ave, Suite 115, and the remaining 100 will be distributed by KAWC, 2020 S. Avenue 8E; KECY, 1965 S. 4th Ave; and the Yuma Sun, 2055 S. Arizona Ave. Interested community members can pick up free tickets at the above locations while supplies last.
