Yumans to sign Kennedy condolences

To honor and remember Sen. Ted Kennedy, a Yuma funeral home is asking citizens to sign their condolences to the Kennedy family in a book that will be on display in the chapel Saturday.

The signing will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel, 795 W. 28th St. For more information, call 344-0000.

"We have a little setting in our chapel so people can come and pay their respects," said Albert Lee, location manager of Funeraria Del Angel.

"We are going set up a book in our chapel, and we are inviting the public to come sign it. Kennedy's memorial service is being held in one of our franchises Back East, and we will forward this book to the Kennedy family. We want to honor him."

Lee said Funeraria Del Angel also hosted a book signing when Ronald Reagan died.

"We decided to do the same thing for Kennedy. He was pretty remarkable as far as being a figurehead for other individuals who have held office. Since he is well known throughout the United States, we felt this should be done for him."

Lee admired Kennedy.

"I thought he was a great person," Lee said. "I understand that he was for the people, and I think the whole country is sad that he is dead. There is a vacancy in our government and we don't know who is going to fill that position. Sen. Kennedy's thoughts and teachings can never be replaced."
