Crochet lessons offered
Resident can learn crocheting, knitting and tatting in free lessons offered every Thursday by the organization Chains, Purls and Rings of Wisdom.
The lessons are from 4 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2500 S. 8th Ave.
Foothills Library friends meet
Friends of Foothills Library meet Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Foothills Library, 11299 S. Glenwood Ave.

Reading council offers Spanish classes
The Yuma Reading Council will offer intermediate conversational and immersion Spanish classes beginning the week of May 12.
A six-week intermediate conversational Spanish class will be offered 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting May 12.
A separate intermediate conversational class, also lasting six weeks will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m., beginning May 13.
An eight-week intermediate immersion class will be offered Fridays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning May 16.
Book drive set
The Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society at Arizona Western College is collecting college-level textbooks from AWC students for Worldfund.
Worldfund is an organization that promotes higher education in Latin American nations.
The book drive take place Monday through May 15, and the society is seeking college-level books that cannot be sold back by students to the AWC bookstore. Books can be from the past five years.
The society will sell the books online and donate the proceeds to Worldfund.
Textbooks can be dropped off in green and white collection boxes at AWC's Student Services Building, Student Success Center, the library or the honors center.
