Comments 0 | Recommend 0Wellton Library - The summer reading program begins Tuesday and continues to July 23. The theme this year is "Be Creative at your Library." Visit the library and register your children for the program. There are lots of prizes when they complete their reading log. There will also be lots of fun programs at the library to enjoy. At 10 a.m. on Thursday, it will begin with a karate demonstration by Larios Karate club.
The summer reading program is also open to teens and adults so come by and register and learn how to win lots of neat prizes
Story time is at 11 a.m. Wednesday for children 3 to 5. There will be stories and fun activities for children and parents. Call Audrey at 785-9575 for more information.

Friends of the Library room, where they have a sale every day the library is open. The Friends are looking for volunteers to help in the store. If you have a few hours a week to spare, stop in the Friends room and find out how you can help. They have a beautiful Indian doll raffle as a fundraiser. The drawing will be held on July 4. They have for sale, flash drives at a great price, a big variety of Wellton T-shirts and a great collection of good quality used books, movies and magazines.

Foothills Branch Library - Adult and teen summer reading component is to read three books and write a short review for each title. Turn in your entry form to any branch of the Yuma County Library District and earn a YCLD travel mug for your first entry (while supplies last). All reviews will be placed in a raffle for grand prizes, so enter as many times as you like.
The children’s summer reading program, "Be creative at your Library," begins at 3 p.m. Thursday. The program will be "get creative with indoor activities" and is presented by the Yuma County Health Department. Sign up begins today. At 3 p.m. on June 19, the teen summer program will begin and features "creating self-esteem" also presented by the YCHD.
June is movie madness month. There will be movies every Saturday. At 1:30 p.m. this Saturday, you can watch "Madagascar."
GED classes are held every Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m. Call 342-1640 for more information. Story time is held at 10 a.m. each Wednesday. The theme this Wednesday will be "rhythm." Bring your children in to get some exercise, sing songs, be read to and enjoy making a memorable craft.
At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, a computer class titled "Basics of Using Microsoft Word" will be held. Space is limited, so call the library at 342-1640 to sign up.
At 5 p.m. on Thursday, the Spanish computer class will begin. We need volunteers at our new library. If you have at least two hours a week to donate, you can do something wonderful for yourself and for your library. The Friends store also needs volunteers and members.
We have lots of space for you to sit and read and lots of free computer access. We have wireless Internet access available 24/7 and 20 computers on site for Internet access.

Yuma County Health Department - The health department offers adult and children’s immunizations at walk-in clinics from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second Friday of each month in Wellton at the old Head Start building. A $10 fee is charged per child, per visit. However, no child will be turned away for inability to pay. Clinics outside of Yuma are partially supported by Rotary’s Children’s Opportunity Grant.

VFW Post No. 6790 Men’s and Ladies Auxiliary - Happy hour is 4 to 7 p.m. daily. Breakfasts are served at 8 a.m. on Saturday: pancakes for a donation of $3 per person or ham and eggs for a $5 donation.
Hamburgers/cheeseburgers and fries will all the trimmings are served from 4 to 7 p.m. each Monday for a $4.50/$5 donation; taco dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday for a donation of $4.50; and fish dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday for a donation of $6.

Town of Wellton - The new work week for the town of Wellton administration and public works departments will be 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday beginning July 6.
The police department hours will not change. The sanitation department will change to Monday and Thursday; if you have a bin on once-a-week pickup, it will be on Monday. For more information, call the town at 785-3348.

Harvest club boxes are on sale at the town hall until Friday for $20 cash only. Distribution will be 9 to 10 a.m. June 19 at the Wellton food bank.
The pool hours are now from 1 to 5 p.m. every day. Family Nite at the pool will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and Friday. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
An adult-only lap swim program will be held to July 1 from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays. There will be a nonrefundable charge of $12. Children will not be allowed. Call the pool at 785-9239 to sign up for swimming lessons or for any additional information. The cost will be $20 each person for the class.
The tentative schedule is as follows: June 22 through July 2 Level II will have class from 9 to 10 a.m. and Level I will follow from 10 to 11 a.m. Level III will have class on July 6 through July 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. and Level IV will follow from 10 to 11 a.m.
At 7 p.m. on the first and third Tues. of each month, the town council meetings are held in council chambers at the back of the town hall.
RTA Hospice and Palliative Care - You can make a difference in the lives of others. We are an affiliate of Hospice Compassus and are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join one or more of the following volunteer teams: rescue chiefs, crafters, cookie brigade, project runway, phone buddies and caregiver relief. East County Guardian Angels - Thrift Shoppe summer hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Donations are also accepted at these times. The store is located at 28809 San Jose Ave. (across from the Baptist church). Pet wellness and vaccination clinics will resume in October. Wellton Senior Nutrition Program - From 11 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, hot meals are served at the Community Center on Dome Street across from the golf course. For more information, call 785-4585.
YCAT - This public transport offers services from Wellton to Yuma and connecting services to many places in Yuma County including AWC, Yuma Palms Mall, Cocopah Casino, YRMC and Wal-Mart stores with four trips a day.
A.A. Meetings - Meetings are being held at 6 p.m. each Tuesday in the back of the F.S.B.C. on the corner of Helen and San Jose Avenue, Wellton. For more information, call 920-5713.
Habitat for Humanity - They are no longer accepting plastic bottles. Each collection site to recycle aluminum cans will have an "Enviro green" Habitat collection house.
There are lots of locations sites throughout the east county. The public can deposit aluminum cans to generate income that will be applied to a future Habitat house build for the betterment of the community of Wellton. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about projects, call 783-3993.
Dateland Branch Library - This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Dateland School. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, except for the last Thursday of the month when it is closed but open on the Monday of that week.
The library offers free use of computers and lots of books to check out. Computer and GED classes are being offered to anyone interested. Call 1-928-454-2242 on days the library is open for more information. All library programs are free.
Roll Branch Library - This branch of the Yuma County library is located within the Mohawk Valley School.
