A 42-year-old man from Somerton was arrested Sunday for allegedly attempting to smuggle nearly 245 pounds of marijuana into the United States through the San Luis port of entry.

According to Customs and Border Protection, officers referred Daniel Munoz Paz for a secondary inspection of his GMC pickup and, with the aid of a narcotics detection dog, discovered 110 marijuana packages hidden inside an auxiliary fuel tank in the bed of the truck.

The drugs, which had an estimated street value of $122,000, and the vehicle were processed for seizure.

Paz was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
