A former deputy staff judge advocate for the Marine Corps Air Station's law center has been awarded the 2007-2008 Outstanding Young Military Service Lawyer Award from the American Bar Association.

Capt. Jennifer S. Parker received the annual award given to one judge advocate in each branch of service.

"It's an honor to receive this award, but I couldn't have done it without all the Marines that have worked with me," said Parker.

The Stanton, Mo., native started at MCAS in 2006 after a successful tour with 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Parker, who has served in various legal billets during her two years here, will be taking on a new endeavor as a platoon commander at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Va.

"I will miss being around everyone in the shop and working in law, but I'm excited for Quantico and the experience of training future leaders of Marines," she said.
