It's storybook time, Marine! (photo)
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It was billed as a day that U.S. Marines would be reading to children at the Foothills Library, 13226 E. South Frontage Road. But when Anna-Kate Ross, 3, (first photo) said she could read too, she walked up, took a seat next to Cpl. Benjamin Thompson and began reading as Thompson and his fellow Marines, all from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, looked on. The only problem was, no one could hear anything coming from Anna-Kate's mouth. That's because she said she was reading to herself, which brought laughter and smiles from the Marines and others gathered for the occasion.
The Marines were on hand to read books to children as a special Toys for Tots session at the library, which serves as a drop-off location for the Toys for Tots program. Later, Tyler Spees (left), 3, (second photo) helps point out yellow bananas in another story book held by Lance Cpl. Brenda Montoya while Sgt. Nicolas Magallanes looks from overhead.
