District 1 board member to be recognized at meeting
At a meeting Monday, governing board member Cathy Nicewander will be recognized for her tenure of eight years of service to Yuma Elementary District 1.
There will be an opportunity for people to speak about Nicewander's service to the district and there will also be a brief presentation.
In other meeting news, Desert Mesa Elementary School will be recognized for receiving a Yuma Regional Medical Foundation trophy. Students at Desert Mesa Elementary logged 27,493 miles during a Y.O.U.T.H. Mileage Club School Program on their campuses to fight childhood obesity.
The national program promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging students to walk laps during recess time to earn tokens to wear on their “achievement chains.” The miles are then logged, and participants are rewarded as they collect additional tokens.
Lastly, chief financial officer Kerry Jones will also share reports on the budget and enrollment.
The meeting will be held at the district administration office, 450 6th St., at 5:30 p.m. Visit www.yuma.org to view the entire meeting agenda.
