Popular Mexican singer comes to Cocopah Casino
The well-known Mexican singer Lorenzo De Monteclaro comes to Cocopah Casino because the people ask for it so. Backed by his 50 years in the music scene, and by a production of countless hit songs, Monteclaro will do a his show today Saturday, to delight followers with the music that made him famous and his most recent material.
“The community demanded this kind of entertainment,” said Liz Pratt, Communications Director for Cocopah Casino.
Pratt explained that an internal focus group had been formed did several surveys, the outcome of which expressed that the Hispanic community wanted to be able to enjoy more of these kind of presentations.
“The Casino is trying to bring entertainment directed to the Hispanic community at least every month,” said Pratt.
According to Ricardo Hernandez, the singer’s agent and promoter, Monteclaro is presently promoting his new material titled “Cuando los Hijos se Van” (When the children leave), which includes different genres from baladas, cumbias, boleros and ranchera music.
“Although it was with his previous material, “Mis Exitos en Vivo desde Sonora” (My Hits Live from Sonora), that he celebrated his 50th Anniversary as a singer,” said Hernandez, who is also the singer’s son. “That is why, they have programmed a celebration for him on November 21st at the Expo Gan Sonora 2008 in Hermosillo, Sonora, where he will be presented with a recognition to his artistic career before an audience of more than 7,000.
The singer of the great hit “El Ausente,” began to professionally explore the world of singing in 1958, precisely while he lived in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, that is where a journalist interviewed him and on the next day, Lorenzo De Monteclaro, whose real name is Lorenzo Hernandez Martinez, was artistically born.
During his long career, Monteclaro has dedicated himself not only to singing, but has taken part in 48 movies and has produced a total of 90 records.
“His record number 90 is “Cuando los Hijos se Van,” explains Hernandez. “Where the song by the same title derives from, which is now being promoted here in Yuma, and several cities in the south of Texas, in shows throughout November.”
Pratt also added that the night’s opening acts will be two local groups, “Los Rezecos” and “Los Alazanes,” which will be followed by the special presentation of singer Chuy Vega, formerly from Los Cadetes de Linares.
“The Casino is committed to the Hispanic community to bring them what they prefer,” said Pratt. “This is the reason why we will continue bringing quality entertainment.”
