Call will be at Yuma Palms Aug. 11

"America's Next Top Model" could come from Yuma next season.

An open casting call for The CW network’s "America’s Next Top Model" will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, according to a release from KSWT-TV officials.

"They'll get to say why they should be the next top model and strut their stuff," said Fred McCarty, promotions and news operations manager for KSWT.

The event will take place at Yuma Palms Regional Center, between JCPenney and Dillard’s.

Television station representatives will be at the mall to take photos and applications to submit to the show for consideration.

McCarty said audition video tapes will be shot at the mall. Those recordings will be sent to "America's Next Top Model" casting directors.

"Each girl should bring their 'A' game," McCarty said. "They need to be dynamic, be presentable, practice their catwalk, and let their personality come through. This might be their only chance to impress the casting judges who will review these tapes, so bring it."

Though casting will also be held in other cities such as Phoenix, Yuma is the closest location for people in San Diego, Palms Springs, Calif., and surrounding areas in Imperial and Yuma counties.

The show is looking for females ages 18 to 27 of diverse backgrounds, shapes and sizes. There is also a minimum height requirement of 5-foot-7-inches tall.

For more details, call 782-5113 or log on to KSWT.com.

Applications are also available at Lotus Day Spa and Salon at 11274 S. Fortuna Road.

Those attending the casting call must arrive on time.

No applications will be accepted after 1 p.m Aug. 11.

"America’s Next Top Model" is a reality show that follows a group of young women who live together and vie for a grand prize which will include a modeling contract.

The finalists compete in a "modeling boot camp," including mentoring by super-model Tyra Banks and exposure to high-profile fashion industry gurus, all under 24-hour-a-day surveillance of cameras chronicling their every move.

The show airs on The CW Channel 6 at 8 and 9 p.m. on Wednesdays with repeats on MTV. Check television listings for upcoming air dates.
