GEORGE FILLIAN

George Fillian, 79, of Ames, Iowa died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. He was born September 29, 1927 in Haverhill, New Hampshire to William and Beatrice (Buckley) Fillian.

George attended New York State Ranger School and served in WWII with the US Army Air Corp and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

On August 7, 1948 he was united in marriage to Annette Buschelman. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2005.

George worked as a Ground Crew Manager for Eastern Airlines and retired in 1965. He was a Claims Representative for Social Security and retired in 1986.

George was a lifetime member of the following: New York State Ranger School Alumni Association; D.C. Society Sons of the American Revolution, Kiwanis International, Piscataqua Pioneers, Ray County Historical Society (M0). American Legion Post 20, NARFE and Eastern Airlines Retirees Association, Grace United Methodist Church in Story City, Iowa. He was a Hospice volunteer, and had served on many charitable Boards, Foundations and Community Clubs throughout his life whose main emphasis was the care of children and young people. He loved to travel and visit and enjoyed genealogy.

Survivors include two sons; Frank (Fran) Fillian of Yuma, Arizona and Lee (Debbie) Fillian of Creston, Iowa; four daughters, Beatrice (Leon) Hobbs of Claremont, New Hampshire, Suzanne (Daryl) Mendel of Ramona, California, Alice (Brian) Tibben of Nevada, Iowa and Christina Potter of Marshalltown, Iowa.

His parents, wife and one great grandson, Nathaniel Hobbs, preceded George in death.

Services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City, Iowa at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2007. Visitation will be from 12:30p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames or St. Labre Indian School in New Mexico.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

LANDON LEE SANDERS

Landon Lee Sanders, 11 months old, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2007. He was born September 7, 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Landon was an amazing, strong willed baby. He beat the odds for nearly one year. In such a short life, he was an angel that touched so many.

He is survived by his father, Michael Sanders; mother, Alaina Sanders; brothers, Ian Sanders and Caleb Sanders all of Yuma; as well as many grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Landon was preceded in death by his twin sister, Abigail Emma Sanders.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Kammann Mortuary. The burial services are at 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Desert Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Tyson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Bank of Yuma in the account name: Baby Landon Sanders.

DONATO (DAN) CORBO

Donato (Dan) Corbo, 80, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2007, after a battle with cancer. Dan was born September 29, 1926 in New Rochelle, New York.

Dan served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman. Dan was an auto painter at the Chevrolet dealership in Yuma for many years.

Dan was a graduate of Albert Leonard High School, in New York.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Corbo, of Yuma; his sons, Scott Corbo, of Chandler, Ariz., Daniel J. Corbo, and Gregory Corbo, of Glendale, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Corbo; brother, Lou Corbo; and father, Dominick Corbo.

At the family's request there will be no service.

GAIL MARIE POWELL LeDOUX

Gail Marie Powell LeDoux passed out of this world to join her heavenly father on Monday, August 27th, 2007 at YRMC. She was born in Yuma on July 26, 1949 at Parkview Hospital.

Gail attended Yuma High School. After high school and Yuma School of Beauty, she worked for Johnson Mortuary, McDonald Department store, and a local car dealership. Later she joined the Yuma business community as co-owner of Gold Key Mobile Home Sales in the 1970's. After retirement she spent time in San Diego and Yuma with her beloved daughter and grandson.

Gail was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin, friend, and person. Her strong belief in the Lord held her steady through the trials of life. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Churches of Yuma, participating in many church organizations and functions. Her deep faith helped her through several recent surgeries and medical difficulties. Her battle is over, but for those of us who loved her she will be severely missed and always remembered.

Gail is survived by her daughter; Kimson Marie LeDoux; her grandson; Jason Tyler LeDoux; her parents Harry Powell and Delores Nelson Powell; and her brother; Michael Powell. In addition, she is also survived by her loving, four-legged companion (little dog); Jenny Jo; her best friend and cousin Kathryn Nelson Vorndam; her niece; Jennifer Powell; nephews; Michael Scott and Christopher Powell; grandniece Isabela Powell; uncles and aunts; Dwight and Marie Nelson, Lyle and Mary Nelson, Bobby and Connie Nelson. She will also be missed by her many 2nd and 3rd cousins, as well as her ex-husband and friend John Ali and his entire family.

Gail's first cousins will serve as her pallbearers: Patricia Nelson Mendoza, Donna Nelson Sherman, Kathryn Nelson Vorndam, Edward Nelson, Janet Nelson Tucker, Linda Nelson Cordova, Susan Nelson Rico, Judy Nelson, and Rhonda Nelson Swanson Johnson.

Gail was preceded in death by her Uncle Keith Nelson; grandparents Oscar and Bertha Nelson and Harry K. and Dina Powell.

The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 2555 S. Engler Avenue, with Pastor Vince Harmon officiating and burial immediately after at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
