Highway 95 Cafe owner expands to third location

New life is coming to the Fortune Cookie Restaurant, which was closed in May by the previous owner.

Fortune Cookie 95 will be opening for business Saturday at the restaurant, 2560 W. 16th St. It's the latest restaurant by Alex Aw, who with partner Kenny Chuah owns Highway 95 Cafe and Palagor Asian Fusion.

Aw said Fortune Cookie 95 will feature the same Asian Thai foods that are on the menu at Highway 95 Cafe. Fortune Cookie 95 will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

He said the same dishes also are being added to the menu at Palagor.

Las Palapas Taco Grill at the Big Curve Shopping Center is reopening for business Saturday. The restaurant had been closed for repairs after a kitchen fire.

A grand reopening is being planned for Oct. 17 with sample foods and live entertainment.

Johnny Tomasella, who earned quite a following for the crepes he made and served out of a truck parked at Yuma Mesa Shopping Center, has found a new location in the Foothills and expects to be back in business either Wednesday or Thursday.

Tomasella is setting up his truck on a vacant lot owned by Ross Wait just north of the new Walgreens on the west side of Fortuna Road. Tables and chairs will be available for customers to enjoy their treat.

RV Masters of Yuma, previously located at 3233 E. 40th St., has moved to 3180 N. Short Way, next to the Barney's at 32nd Street and Avenue 3E. With the move, RV Masters is in the same facility as Service Depot and South East Diesel to now provide a team approach to RV service and repair needs.

Dr. Thor Thorson, D.D.S., has joined Gila Ridge Dental at 7949 E. 24th St. in the Foothills.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he attended Northern Arizona University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in chemistry. Thorson then earned his doctor in dental surgery degree at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.

He practiced dentistry in Oregon for a while before moving to Yuma to join Dr. Stephen Garner in his dental practice.

, 5800 E. 32nd St., is now open for breakfast, starting at 6:30 a.m.

Lush Resale is now open for business at 1450 S. 4th Ave. in the Western Village Shopping Center. The shop sells new and lightly used brand name clothing. The shop also will buy brand name clothing that is in good condition.

Baas Insurance, the local GEICO Insurance agency is now settled into its new office at 182 E. 16th St., Suite B, with the same phone number. A grand opening will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 16,

The agency, owned by Russell Baas, previously was located at 3939 S. Avenue 3E.

Horizon Human Services has opened an office at 791 S. 4th Ave., A. The organization will provide behavioral health services for Cenpatico Behavioral Health, which has the contract from the state to provide behavioral health services in Western Arizona.

Two physicians who specialize in internal medicine have joined the medical staff at the Sunset Community Health Center in San Luis, Ariz., at 815 E. Juan Sanchez Blvd.

Dr. Prabodh Rathi graduated in 1991 from the P.D.M. Medical College, Amravati, India, and completed his residency in June 2009 at the Temple University School of Medicine, Scranton, Pa.

Dr. Roopa Rajgopal completed medical school in 2000 at Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore, India, and residency training in 2008 at New York Downtown Hospital, New York, N.Y. Rajgopal is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

My apologies to Paul and Kim Bensel for misspelling their last name and the name of their business - Paul Bensel Jewelers - in an item in last week's Comings and Goings regarding the relocation of the store to the Big Curve Shopping Center.

With Halloween just around the corner, Party City has opened Halloween Costume Warehouse in the Big Curve Shopping Center in the former Miller's Outpost store.

The Britain family is now offering a venue for special events and parties at two locations: Country Junction USA at 10891 Avenue 36E in the Wellton area and Britain Farms at 4330 W. Riverside Drive in the Yuma Valley.

The family also is offering catering at either site or other locations.

It's a joint effort by Billy Britain, his wife, Debbie, and parents Bill and Lois Britain, who previously operated the Britain Farms restaurant.
