That's where U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found marijuana in an SUV at the port of entry in San Luis, Ariz., on Wednesday.
By the time they were done, officers had seized 66 packages of pot that had been stuffed throughout 1998 Ford Expedition, CBP officials.
The marijuana, weighing 144 pounds, had a street value of about $230,000, CBP said.
A 33-year-old man who drove the vehicle across the border from Mexico was arrested and has been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for prosecution.
The name of the driver, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., was not released.
After crossing the border, the driver had displayed nervous behavior to a CBP officer, who also noticed inconsistencies in the vehicle's interior, the CBP said.
The vehicle was sent to a secondary inspection area, where an narcotic detector dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs.
CBP spokesman Brian Levin said officers found marijuana throughout the vehicle, in openings in the vehicle as well as in hidden areas made for the purpose of smuggling.
"The smuggling organizations will use every imaginable concealment method in an attempt to get by us," William K. Brooks, the port director, said in a news release. "But our officers are up to the task as seen with yesterday’s failed smuggling attempt."
