One killed, 4 injured in I-10 accident
One person was killed and four were injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday morning on Interstate 10, 31 miles east of the Arizona-California line, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
DPS said a 37- year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle. Four others were injured, including a 6- or 7-year-old child, and all were lifted to either the Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, Calif., or St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
The accident occurred at about 9:10 a.m. Friday, when the driver of the vehicle swerved to miss an animal, hit a guardrail on the highway shoulder and rolled over, DPS said.
Names of the accident victims were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
