Trucks on sups agenda Wednesday
The Yuma County Board of Supervisors will not meet Monday, due to the Labor Day holiday.
Instead, the board will hold its public meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday at 198 S. Main St.
Supervisors are expected to vote on whether to approve a grant to purchase six Ford F-150 half-ton Super Crew 4x4 pickups not to exceed $180,000. Also with the grant is an award to purchase and install thermal imaging cameras and a specialized platform for thermal cameras not to exceed $95,000.
Yuma County Administrator Robert Pickels said the funds are part of a grant from the state through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The investment will help officers working on border security.
In addition, at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, which is during the same meeting, there is an agenda item to amend the Yuma County Zoning Ordinance to remove the two-acre maximum size requirement for parcels zoned Local Commercial.
Also to be considered are several items the Yuma Sun previously reported on, including:
• An ordinance that would allow for solar panels and associated equipment to be installed in sideyard setbacks.
• An ordinance to allow fences and walls located in the frontyard to be built higher than three feet under certain circumstances and to allow residents more flexibility in fence/wall height without creating a safety hazard and resolve conflicts between the currently adopted Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations.
• An ordinance that would allow roof-mounted solar panels to exceed a zoning district's maximum height by six feet.
