$91,000 in grants split among local nonprofits
Twenty-three nonprofit organizations are splitting more than $91,000 in grant money earmarked for health care, youth, animal welfare and arts and culture programs in the Yuma area.
The money comes from donations, and recipients were chosen based on the recommendations of a Yuma Community Foundation advisory board that reviewed the recipients' applications for the funding, said Judy Gresser, the foundation executive director.
Of the total being distributed, $60,000 comes from the Sturges Charitable Trust, named for longtime Yuma philanthropists Stephen and Rose Sturges.
