Winter visitor party Wednesday at fairgrounds
If you're a winter resident, then Wednesday is your special day!
The Yuma Sun's Winter Visitor Thank You Party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the seasonal residents who make the annual trek from colder locales to Arizona's mild Southwestern desert. The party takes place at the Yuma County Fairgrounds, 2520 E. 32nd St. Admission is free.
The first 500 people through the gate will be treated to a free ice cream cone and a T-shirt or hat (come in through the 32nd Street entrance to get your prizes). There will also be complimentary coffee and doughnuts.
A videographer will be on hand to record fun short interviews with attendees. Another highlight will be the giant map of the United States and Canada, where visitors can place a pin on the state or province they call home when they're not in Yuma.
This is the first year for a send-off party. It complements the Winter Visitor Welcome Back Bash held in December, another Yuma Sun production that has been an annual event for about 15 years.
The event sponsor for the party is Aiello Eye Institute. There will be several businesses and food vendors in attendance as well.
