Pedestrian struck by car

A 20-year-old Yuma man was injured Thursday morning after being struck by a car at 22nd Street and 3rd Avenue.

Police spokesman Sgt. Clint Norred said the accident happened at about 8:35 a.m. after a white 2003 Hyundai, driven by 41-year-old Barbara Bajo, stopped for the stop sign at the intersection. She had been traveling eastbound on 22nd Street.

The pedestrian, Timothy Lance, was walking northbound on 3rd Avenue and began to cross the intersection in front of Bajo's car.

Norred said Bajo did not see him. “The pedestrian saw her at the last second and tried to jump. He landed on the front windshield.”

Lance was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Bajo was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
