Pet Expo, clinic Saturday
Area pups can have a little fun in the sun Saturday with the second annual Pet Expo.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the city of Yuma's Bark Park, 1705 E. Palo Verde St.
Pets - and their owners - can visit a groomer and see other pets up for adoption by the Humane Society of Yuma (HSOY), which will also have a rabies and licensing clinic. And there will be special appearances by other animals such as reptiles and a pony.
There will also be 4-H members with livestock.
Pauline Weiland, Pet Expo committee member, said it's all about getting people together to learn.
"The whole idea is to get Yuma out there to encourage responsible pet ownership and have fun with your pet and learn some information."
The expo is free, and all animals must remain leashed during the event.
The rabies and licensing clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lines close for 1 p.m. for the clinic, so organizers say to be sure to be there early.
Weiland said having the HSOY involved is a "no brainer," and the event is sure to be a hit.
"Everyone loves the Humane Society and what they do. I think it's definitely going to be a big thing."
