$45,000 worth of jewelry stolen from Sears
Yuma police are investigating the theft of approximately $45,000 worth of jewelry from the Sears store in the Southgate Mall early Friday morning.
According to Sgt. Leanne Worthen, a spokesperson for the Yuma Police Department, officers responded to the store, which is located at 3150 S. 4th Ave., at about 4:06 a.m.
Once on scene, officers discovered that several unknown suspects had broken a glass window on the south side of the building, entered the store, and took the jewelry.
In addition to stealing the jewelry, the suspects caused an estimated $70,000 worth of damage to the building's front window and the display cases that were smashed during the burglary.
No description of any of the suspects was available as of Monday and Yuma police are currently investigating the crime.
