Border Patrol agents seize 586 pounds of marijuana
Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents based at the Wellton Station seized about 586 pounds of abandoned marijuana worth an estimated $293,000 during three separate incidents this week.
The first seizure happened Tuesday after agents received a phone call from a concerned citizen who had found three bundles of marijuana south of Interstate 8 near milepost 96. The bundles contained about 69 pounds of marijuana.
The second seizure happened Wednesday when agents patrolling the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge discovered footprints leading them to about 226 pounds of pot.
The third seizure happened Thursday when agents patrolling south of Gila Bend found footprints leading them to an additional 291 pounds of pot.
