A vehicle hit a power pole, resulting in an outage Monday afternoon in the Foothills area.

The accident occurred at 4:22 p.m. at East Ranch Drive and South Shadow Avenue.

“A pole was hit and a wire is down,” said Arizona Public Service spokesman Alan Bunnell.

The outage affected 265 customers and businesses. A Walmart customer reported people were stuck inside and unable to leave the store due to the outage.

No other details were available on the accident as of early Monday evening.

The accident knocked out power from County 9 ½ Street to County 12th Street and Avenue 8E to Avenue 10E.

By 5:30 p.m., power had been restored to 91 customers, and the remaining 173, those who lived closest to the downed wire, were restored at 7:07 p.m.
