Career department adds website
The Career and Advisement Services Department at Arizona Western College has launched a website to expand its services.
The website — www.azwestern.edu/careerservices — helps streamline student and employer registration, resume referrals, document management, placement tracking, job posting and management, onsite recruitment, career events management and more.
Students will be able to access services registration, job searches, manage multiple resumes and cover letters as well as other documents around the clock.
Employers will be able to post employment opportunities on and off campus as well as internships and volunteer opportunities to students and alumni. They can also choose to receive online applications from the website with current resumes attached, sign up for career fairs and more.
Auto program recertified
The automotive training program at Arizona Western College recently received recertification by National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) as well as the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
AWC's automotive program has been certified as a master's program in the following areas: brakes, electrical/electronic systems, engine performance, suspension and steering, manual drive train and axles, automatic transmissions/transaxles, heating and air conditioning systems, and engine repair.
“Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders,” said Patricia Serratore, NATEF president, “it gives added assurance that AWC's graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by AWC, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will be joining the work force.”
After being evaluated by NATEF, the foundation recommended that AWC also be accredited by ASE, a national nonprofit organization that tests and certifies repair technicians in addition to accrediting automotive training programs.
