Somerton man injured when car falls on him
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Somerton/Cocopah firefighters assisted a man Tuesday morning who was injured after the vehicle he was working on fell on top of him.
The man, described as in his 60s, was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department spokesman Robby Rodriguez said.
According to Rodriguez, the incident happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Joshua Street.
Rodriguez said the man had been working under the rear of a vehicle in his front yard when it slipped off the jack.
"He was trapped underneath the car for about three minutes," Rodriguez said. "He was exhibiting chest pain on the scene."
The man, Rodriguez said, was not underneath the vehicle when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Rodriguez added that it is unclear how the man got out from underneath the vehicle, but it is believed he was able to alert his son who used the jack to lift the vehicle and move him out from underneath it.
