Man who died in interstate rollover identified
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The man who died in a rollover accident Sunday along Interstate 8 has been identified as 77-year-old Ponnambalan Govindarajan of India.
The accident, which also injured three others, happened at about 7:05 p.m. Sunday at Milepost 58.2 near Dateland.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the driver of the vehicle, Krishnanalar Sinadorey, 38, of Chandler, Ariz., was driving a tan Honda four-door sedan when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle, traveling off of the road and rolling several times.
One passenger was ejected, another was partially ejected and another remained trapped in the vehicle, according to DPS. Sinadorey, who was the driver, was able to get out of the vehicle on his own.
DPS says no one in the car was wearing seat belts.
The highway was closed to land three medical helicopters and was then reopened. Govindarajan was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver, as well as passengers Prabakaran Govindarajan, 39, also of Chandler, and Rathinum Govindarajan, 77, of India, were flown from the scene to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
DPS did not have condition report on their injuries.
