-Retired School Employees meet
 
AARP's Divided We Fail platform will be the subject of a guest speaker's talk at Monday's meeting of the Yuma County Retired School Employees Association.
 
Virginia Brant will speak on the Divided We Fail, AARP's campaign to bring to the attention of the presidential candidate AARP members' concerns about health care, financial security in retirement and other issues relating to people of retirement age..
 
The meeting takes place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Wetlands Park, 2200 Water St., and is open to retirees and school employees nearing retirement.


-Conservation efforts explained
 
Lori Cook, spokeswoman for the Yuma Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management, will speak at an Oct. 20 library program about the BLM's conservation efforts and activities to protect archaeological sites.
 
She will speak at 3 p.m. at the Heritage Branch Library, 350 3rd Ave. The presentation is open to the public.
 
Anyone needing special accommodations should call the library, 782-1871, at least 72 hours in advance.
