AIMS make-up exams this week
Yuma Union High School District students who did not meet state standards on AIMS exams will have the opportunity to take the tests again Tuesday through Thursday.
“All Arizona high school students are required to meet the standards on all three parts of the AIMS tests in order to graduate,” said YUHSD officials.
Writing, reading and mathematics exams will be administered to juniors and seniors at YUHSD campuses at 7:30 a.m. all three days. Tuesday dismissal time for juniors and seniors who have passed the AIMS writing test will be 9:35 a.m. Wednesday dismissal time for juniors and seniors who have passed the AIMS reading test will be 10:05 a.m. Thursday dismissal time for juniors and seniors who have passed the AIMS math test will be 9:05 a.m.
All other students will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. on all three days. Vista Alternative School campuses will inform students and parents of any adjustments to this schedule.
AIMS tutoring is available at individual campuses.
“To increase the likelihood of success it is important that students are encouraged to attend school every day and especially on test days,” YUHSD officials said. “They should be well rested and have eaten well the evening before each test. Breakfast is provided free to each student on every district campus. Finally, we would like to ask the community, as well as our parents, to show their support and belief in the abilities of our youth by encouraging students to do their best on these tests.”
