Solar projects on YUHSD agenda
At a meeting Wednesday, the Yuma Union High School District governing board will consider a memorandum of understanding for possible solar projects at Kofa, Vista South and Yuma high schools.
To continue its efforts to reduce energy expenses and improve its facilities, YUHSD has worked with Arizona Public Service through the schools and government program to complete these projects.
“YUHSD approved three third-party solar projects for Cibola, Gila Ridge and San Luis High Schools in the fall under a program that limited our participation to three schools,” stated the YUHSD agenda. “However, we have the opportunity to work directly with APS through a separate program known as the schools and government program, under Arizona Corporation Commission decisions 72022 and 71274 to provide similar solar projects at Kofa, Vista South and Yuma High School Facilities.”
If the board approves this action, the next step will be to bring a recommendation of easements with APS to a future board meeting. The easement details will be written by APS and reviewed by the city of Yuma.
Also Wednesday, the board will decide on personnel routine recommendations for administrative, certified and classified employees.
The meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. in the YUHSD governing board room, 3150 S. Avenue A.
