Humane Society of Yuma's seasonal event scheduled this weekend
The Humane Society of Yuma is looking for homes for some special dogs and cats.
The animals will be available for adoption this weekend at an adoption fair at PetSmart, 1460 S. Yuma Palms Parkway.
The hours of the event organized by the Humane Society are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
"Spring is when we are flooded with puppies and kitties," said Elke Wills, community relations manager for the Humane Society. "Because of the heat, the animals will be inside the store. Saturday's collection will be mostly dogs, while on Sunday there will be a variety of adoptable animals."
Wills said she expects a total of 30 dogs and cats to be available for adoption at any given time during the weekend.
Everyone who adopts an animal from PetSmart will have their names entered in a drawing for a Bose speaker system, she said.
Those who adopt animals will also will be able to get vaccinations and spaying and neutering for their animals.
Dogs past the age of four months are available for adoption for $85. Puppies younger than four months cost $100.
Cats over four months old cost $55, and the fee for younger ones is $65.
Yuma Kennel Club and Planned Pethood members will provide information to new pet owners.
