Yuma man arrested for allegedly selling pirated DVDs, CDs
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A Yuma man faces prosecution for allegedly selling pirated DVDs and CDs, according to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies reported seizing more than 3,100 illegally reproduced movie DVDs and 800 pirated music CDs when they arrested Carlos Cruz, 20, on Monday.
He allegedly was selling them from a roadside stand at 3345 W. 8th St.
The DVDs and CDs are believed to have been brought in from the Los Angeles area for sale by Cruz in Yuma, sheriff's spokesman Capt. Eben Bratcher said.
"I don't believe he was actually reproducing them himself," Bratcher said.
The sheriff's office said Cruz faces a Class 3 felony charge of unlawfully copying or selling sounds or images reproduced without the owners' consent.
