Sex offender registers as transient
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is informing the community that convicted sex offender Oscar Molina, 61, will be in the area of 10th Street and Arizona Avenue.
Molina, who is a transient, is described as 6 feet tall, 166 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is a Level 2 sex offender. He is not wanted by law enforcement at this time.
In August of 1992, Molina was convicted in Yuma County Superior Court of child molestation. He had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female whom he knew.
Offenders are categorized in three levels. Level 1 is a low risk to reoffend, Level 2 an intermediate risk and Level 3 a high risk. Fliers are being distributed in the immediate vicinity.
Law enforcement has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live. Unless court-ordered restrictions exist, this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he chooses.
