Sex offender has new address in county
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is informing the community of a Level 2 sex offender's new address.
Anthony Nelson, 42, is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is now residing at 3512 E. Cuadrilla Lane.
In August of 2000, Nelson was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 by the Santa Clara Superior Court. His victim was a 13-year-old girl.
He was convicted for failure to register a change of address in August 2005. Sex offenders are required by law to so as part of their convictions.
Nelson is not wanted by law enforcement. YCSO is releasing information about Nelson's new address pursuant to the community notification law on sex offenders.
Offenders are categorized in three levels. Level 1 is a low risk to reoffend, Level 2 an intermediate risk and Level 3 a high risk.
The YCSO is responsible for registering sex offenders who reside in Yuma County. This includes new registrations, address changes and/or updates, and confirming offenders have moved out of the area. In August, the YCSO:
• Registered 3 new sex offenders
• Confirmed 1 sex offender moved out of the area
• Received 7 sex offender address changes
• Conducted 22 sex offender compliance checks
• Tracked a total of 322 sex offenders in Yuma County
